In memory of Takahata Isao

On April 5th, the Japanese animated film director Takahata Isao passed away. The passing of the creator, who is internationally famous for works such as “Grave of the Fireflies”, “Pom Poko” and “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya”, came as a shock to people across the world.
Mr. Takahata gave us words of encouragement at a special symposium that was held in celebration of the museum’s opening ceremony in 2006. Our heart-felt condolences go to him; may his soul rest in peace.
Books related to Mr. Takahata are now available in front of the research reference room on the 3rd floor. We hope you will take the opportunity to be reminded of some of his great works.
